I’m Phil Stone, Residential & Trade Sales Director at Irish Stone. My role includes looking after The Hillsborough Collection — an Irish Stone brand. I help homeowners, builders, contractors, hardscapers and landscapers — along with trade, retail and merchant accounts — across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland choose the right stone, from stocked paving and cobbles through to pieces cut for a specific job.

The Hillsborough Collection is an Irish Stone brand — looking after it is part of my role. It’s design, supply and install for higher-end residential outdoor spaces, with a focus on getting the stone right rather than selling whatever happens to be on the shelf.
The collection is stocked and showcased in Royal Hillsborough, Co. Down.

Sales, stock and purchasing
I’ve worked across sales, account management, business development, marketing, sourcing and yard operations. In my current role as Residential & Trade Sales Director, I take customers from the first conversation through product choice, pricing and the details that turn an enquiry into a workable order.
I also look after stock and purchasing — working with suppliers in countries including India, China, Egypt and Portugal — so the range stays useful and available for the jobs people actually need done.
Whether it’s a stocked paving line or something cut and finished for a specific design, the job is the same: match the right material to the setting, budget and how it will be used, and keep the path from enquiry to delivery clear.
How I can help on a project
Most conversations cover material, finish, size, availability, lead times and how something will look and perform once it’s down. That might mean walking through paving and cobble options for a patio, path or driveway; sorting steps, landings and treads; sourcing kerbs and coping; helping a trade, retail or merchant account reorder a familiar line; or lining up a more bespoke piece with the yard and production teams.

We buy stone internationally — including from India, China, Egypt and Portugal, as well as Ireland, Britain and other European markets. For residential work, the focus is paving and cobbles for patios, paths and driveways, plus steps, landings, treads, kerbs and coping. Bespoke sizes and finishes are available when a project needs something more specific.
